Statue Of Liberty National Monument

Nice trip out to statue. Not enough time to walk up it and get back on the boat. Long way up also. I hear they are going to open the crown again.

I don’t really want to all that bad, but I have this idea about trying to go to all 850 UNESCO World Heritage sites, and this is one.

i was surprised to see how big she was. the ferry lines were soooo long but there was plenty of street performers to entertain. the weather was nice. we also went to ellis island but opted to skip it because we had an itinerary to keep which didnt account for such a long wait to see lady liberty. the security was pretty darn tight to see the statue of liberty but unfortunately necessary since 9/11. it was a nice afternoon.

Too bad we can no longer go all the way at the top because of security measure from 9/11. The lines to go inside were pretty friggin long too …

I went to book my security park pass thing online as recommended and because it was after midnight I couldn’t as it was the same day as I wanted to actually go. So we went to the ticket office and they sold out of the passes. But my boyfriend had never been to Liberty Island so we went anyway. We passed by a Park Ranger on the Island and were reading the sign that said that if you didn’t have a ticket, too bad. My boyfriend must’ve looked so sad because the park ranger lady said “how many of you are in your party?” And when we told her it was just us, she said she had a couple of extra passes. HOW NICE!!! So we went, and though you can only go up the pedestal (and I’d been to the crown many years ago), it was so much better than if we couldn’t get in at all. :)

Been to NY 3 weeks ago for 3 days, wanted to visit Statue of Liberty but a bit late to catch the ferry. I’ve been there 12 years ago, so it was fine for me to just see it from the dock… it felt like seeing a long time friend, images of my first visit just came back to me when I was there. Stayed at the dock for 30 minutes and just take in the view and appreciate that it’s there, especially after coming back from WTC site.

After visiting the site of the twin towers and taking in all the power of that emotion, it was inspirational to see the Lady Liberty if only from a boat.
