A review of this place: Seems like a nice place to raise a family but...  — 1 month ago

    Not worth it!

I went to OSU for a year, so I practically lived a hop, skip, and a jump away from Short North and downtown. Columbus seems like a nice, fairly safe, place to raise a family and the economy is growing. However, for the most part I found Columbus cookie cutter and sprawled. The Short North Arts District is very cool and Victorian Village is beautiful. Once you get into downtown it’s dead and bland (except for the Arena District). I didn’t get a chance to visit German Village, but I plan to whenever I go back. Columbus is a fairly homogeneous city, although there is a large Somali refugee population (which is cool since there isn’t a large population of East Africans in the US). Columbus also seems to pride its self on malls. Especially Easton (a huge, very nice lifestyle center), Polaris (which I found overrated), and Tuttle (nice, but a just a regular ole mall). I think what sets Columbus apart from other cities in Ohio is its growth and newness. However, it lacks character and I don’t really miss it. It would make a great weekend trip though so it is not completely “not worth visiting”.

    Worth visiting!

We went to Mad Mex’s and had some delicious food and some wonderful microbrews. The staff is friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the beers they serve. The provide free tasting samples before ordering, I highly recommend taking a moment and sample several before actually deciding on one. They have great happy hour specials, a must stop for anyone visiting cbus!

A review of this place: Columbus Oh Beautiful  — 11 months ago

    Worth visiting!

Columbus Ohio is one of the most beautiful cities in a decaying midwest. Columbus is the fastest growing city in the midwest and the most beautiful. The metro population is over 1.5 million nearing 2 million. Ohio, the seventh most populated state in the US, has a population of 12+ million people. Columbus has a strong economy that still grows. The city is now a mega city being the 15th most populated in the country! It is one of America’s top cities to live in, and it is a very diverse city. Politically it is split down the middle, which means it welcomes any one. Go Bucks!

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 11 months ago

    Worth visiting!

We’re called a cow town for having a large ag program at Ohio State University, but it’s a city of a million. Check out the Book Loft in German Village and Actors Summer Theater (free outdoor Shakespeare and musicals) in Schiller Park. The Metro Parks are great. Free noon concerts at lunch on the statehouse lawn (gorgeous rotunda, too). Restaurants and bars on High Street (campus). Hike the ravine north of Glenmawr and Cliffside streets. Go to a world class zoo, see fantastic ballet and hear a great symphony orchestra at the Ohio Theater. Go on the Short North Gallery Hop the first Friday of the month. Dance at the Garage. The city libraries (and Bexley Public Library) and recreation centers are great. Skybus and Southwest can both get you in and out of the speedy little airport for cheap. Red White and Boom is still the best fireworks display I’ve ever seen, and it’s a quick drive southwest to King’s Island for roller coasters or southeast to the Hocking Hills for fall color. To top it all off, it’s inexpensive: my sister’s mortgage (three bedrooms on half an acre) costs less than a third of my mortgage (same size, less land) in a smaller, declining city in western Massachusetts.

A review of this place: My visit to Columbus  — 1 year ago

    Not worth it!

Columbus is nothing more than a suburban sprawl surrounded by farmland. This is not a city to make a point to go to, but if you have a reason to go like I did, you can find a couple of things to do. They claim to have one of the best zoos in the nation, but unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to visit. We drove through the heart of the city to see what it was all about and only found a ghost town. Everything was closed with the exception of a steak house. We drove up to it to take a look and an eager valet parker jumped from his seat to help us. Poor guy, we had no intention of going, we just drove up to it because it was the only sign of life aside from 2 or 3 loners walking the streets. The bartender at our hotel said he recently visited New York City for only two days and realized what he’s missing out on. He said he can’t wait to pack his bags and move the heck out of Columbus!

    Worth visiting!

I’m not going to say it’s not worth visiting…it’s the capital of my dear home state and it’s got OSU and some other stuff. I’m from Cleveland so obviously I’m partial to that.

I went here in Sping of 07, with my rugby team.

Overall a beautiful city, even though I didnt get the chance to see much of it. Out of the surrounding states by far the best.

    Worth visiting!

I arrived yesterday. I haven’t done much yet, but I am having a great time. Went out to eat a couple of times. My friend is a busy girl. Today we will do more. Expecting to visit German Village at some point today.
