Unfortunately, that is when my visa will expire. I have traveled all over the North Island and most of the South Island. I am currently living in a small “town” which has 3 houses, no shops, no phone reception, no anything, right in between the Routeburn track and the Greenstone track and I’ve never been happier. In the North Island, I found myself immersed in Maori culture, making friends with many of the kind-hearted, friendly locals. With it’s beautiful beaches, incredible scenery and laid-back attitudes, my life here has been a constant holiday. I will be extremely disappointed to leave in August but will look forward to many returns in the future. Even better than you think by hippie1427this is a beautiful country, and amazingly varied for its size. As an american I felt more at home here than I expected. Though many aspects are distinctly European (or English at least). The rain forest are amazing, the ocean waters are blue, and there are mountains looming everywhere. While there is no interstate system aside from a small section around auckland and wellington, there are plenty of pit stops to accomadate those driving, including pull outs to sleep at and cafes sprinkled even in fairly remote areas. And sheep. Millions and millions of sheep. Do not miss this place. over 3 years agoUntitled by hippie1427Only 2 months to go, and so excited. we are doing a whirlwind tour including jet boating, caving at waitomo, sledding on sand dunes, visiting parks with native fauna, enjoying a maori dinner, visiting several national parks, including fiordland, whale watching, swimming with dolphins, and penguin watching. So freaking excited! over 3 years agoSee all 513 entries |
