    When i was 12...  — 4 days ago

    Worth visiting!

When I was 12 years old my parents sent me to Ireland in the hope that I would learn English. I was there for 2 months. I had a blast but sadly I did not learn much English. I learned two words why and because and in Spanish it’s the same. I lived in Cork. I loved it. Easy to get around even for a 12 year old. I lived with a family but during the weekends we would go on Excursions to places like Blarlney Castle and Tiperary. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Why I want to go to this place  — 3 weeks ago

I want to go to Ireland because it looks like a beautiful country! I have heritage on my father’s side that I would love to explore. And really I just want to soak up the beauty and adventure the land has to offer :-)

I am a 24 year old female from Canada in the late stages of planning a solo backpacking trip to Ireland. Are there any concerns about traveling solo? I anticipate I will meet people along the way in hostels and others. Plan is to go early to mid-May. I am flying into Dublin then heading to the West coast where I hope to explore by bike through a self-guided tour for about 6 days.

All I can say is Powers and Guinness. That’s all.

Well, I lied. Great accents, beautiful scenery and friendly people. Go to Northern Ireland as well, you’ll thank me. Nice trains.

Like a lot of people this days, I have kind of a mixed up family background with a lot of “steps” (step dads, step grandmas, step grandpas…” so even though I may be very close with one side of my family, they don’t necessarily have the same heritage as I do. Most of my family is Norwegian and they are very proud of it. I am a bit, just like I’m a bit of a lot of things but I am mostly Irish and Indian. The American Indian comes from a certain side of my family I don’t speak to so I have never been very interested in that. However, I am extremely interested and proud of my Irish heritage. My grandfather died before I ever really got the chance to ask where we were from but I know that my family’s Irish name is Crowley.

I feel a connection with Ireland even though I’ve never been there yet and feel drawn to the photography and the music and culture. I really think I’m meant to visit Ireland at least once in my life and hopefully I will learn more about my heritage and ancestors before I go.

I went to Ireland on a day trip a couple of years ago. It was nice as far as I can remember but I’d like to go back for longer so I could see more.

Yesterday ,when I talked to a lovely friend about the Irish film “once” I watched recently,he wonder if he would have a 2 week’s vacation in Ireland someday. He’s a little bit interested in expriencing the Celt’s normal life. What he described moved me,so I just wonder if I would go there, perhaps with him.And I wants to feel the Irish music there.(These days I was a little crazy about the music of “once”,the melody in there always comes to my mind.)

    I didn't care for it.  — 1 month ago

    Not worth it!

Guess I was expecting it to be similar to Scotland in a way. It rained all of the time, the area that we visited (Arklow) was very gloomy and dirty and everything smelled like cigarrette smoke. In the possitive side, the food was AWESOME and people were very friendly.

Dublin was alright, quite interesting. The Guiness brewery is a must see….
