i’ve wanted to go here since i read about it in my mexican history class. the rural farmers and their revolutionary tendencies tug at my heartstrings. it seems the people and their culture have perseverence.

Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province

almost impossible not to have a good time!

amazing soup of activity! overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect (but thats what i like about traveling!) such a crazy mix of peaceful monks and desperate tuk tuk drivers and mazes of restaurants to try and things to buy. it makes me a little sad that tourism has ruined society for locals there, and their quiet lifestyle is gone. its a bit hard to see that their “holy city” is reduced to the hottest tourist attraction.

don’t get me wrong, it still has an awesome aura about the ancient buildings and temples all around. but its definitely better if you opt to stay in smaller places as opposed to gigantic hotels, and try to learn a bit about buddhism and the people if you’re going to go.

trekking was pretty cool, take the time to see the greenery if possible. the elephant abuse is pretty sad. go to an elephant sanctuary instead!

but in general, it was beautiful, hot, rainy, (i went in july) very colorful the street food was awesome, and the bug spray was necessary! there’s so much to do, just be a gracious guest in thailand, because the culture is pretty cool. PEACE! as
