Hi, I was born and live in London. I have just moved to Bermondsey on the London Bridge side after living north of the river. South London has always had a bit of a reputation but after being here for the past few months it’s clearly not a worthy one.
The area where I am (SE1) has been cleaned up extensively and there is a massive building programme from the river to the bottom of Southwark (also east and west).
Of course there is the South Bank Centre with the newly opened Festival Hall which now includes lots of new restaurants and cafe’s in its vicinity.
For tourists there is also the London Dungeon (assuming you can stand in a queue for 2 hours to get in!), the Clink Prison museum and Tate Modern of course.
What a place to live!!
Happy to provide tips for where to eat (especially vegetarian places) and how to get around the public transport system. Have fun…
