nice list. always meant to hit towns with names such as these. I added one such town in Austria that’s a big hit with tourists for its name.

The only “blue” joke I ever heard my mother say was that you have to go through “Intercourse” to get to “Paradise” (both towns in Lancaster County, PA)

who am i to judge humor but there’s several cities on the list named paris. is it only funny because it’s not the famous paris of france? if so, perhaps you would consider a new list of cities that are named after famous cities. (i can’t think of a good title but it’s something i considered before)

Agree totally, Paris and Egypt are neither weird nor funny. I removed them to do enhance the list, hope the poster of those items understands. I also miss the humour in the place “St. Elmo”, can anybody explain? RRG

I also started a list of exotic and intriguing names and a non-food the places of the brand-names lists
Will remove Timbuktu from here. It’s not really weird it just sounds exotic to us..
A little help to get these started would be good of course :-)
I think these list could become quite interesting :-)

Try Hicksville, Ohio. The citizens weren’t lying when they named their town that either. ^_~

Just added a bunch of places from a list I came across. Mostly more 5-year old humor. I also reordered and moved some multiple entries to the end of the list as the list would be completely full of these otherwise (Beaver, beaver and beaver…)
I also just created two other list I think could be become quite interesting if more people would add to them:
A list of the names you find exotic and intriguing (such as Timbuktu and Kalamazoo)
and a list of the places known brands were named after (such as Aston Hill and Isuzu River)
Please check them out and add to them :-)
