Worth visiting!

Right next to Hyde Park and when you get tired of the greenery, High Street Kensington with its many shops is just down the road.

The squirrels in the park are so used to people that they aren’t too phased by passers-by :)

Worth visiting!

Beautiful! I walked through while it was misting, and it was one of the most peaceful moments I had in London proper. A gorgeous and spacious park, full of dog walkers and joggers, and a little gallery space. I also saw a couple fall off of their motorbike on the north end of it, but that’s not quite as… uh… good.

Worth visiting!

We wandered around Kensington Gardens and checked out:

The Round Pond – home to many ducks and swans. It is said that killing a swan is a crime punishable by beheading. They are so used to being fed that when we walked to the edge of the pond they swum over to see if we were going to toss some bread their way.

The Albert Memorial – a memorial to Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband. It’s an impressive monument with sculptures devoted to Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa on each corner. Albie is seated facing south; a resplendent golden figure.

Peter Pan statue – this famous statue in Kensington Gardens was commissioned and erected by the author himself. J.M.Barrie wanted to maintain the air of mystery around Peter Pan so he erected the statue in the middle of the night. Apparently he didn’t even get permission from the local government or the gardens to do so.

Description  — 2 years ago

When I went last time in winter, a couple of the heaters in the garden were broken, so a few people huddling around the one working one, and everyone else was inside. There was quite a bit of privacy around the other areas in the garden.

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Visit before October and you will see some giant crazy balloon thing suspended in the air over the art gallery, which can be lowered to give weather protection.
