Don’t wear stilettos here! The cobblestones will ruin your shoes!

We first came to the Distillery District last Thursday for a function at the Young Centre, but couldn’t stay to discover the area, so we decided to return Saturday afternoon.
The great little shops and art studios were well worth exploring, and our lunch at the Oyster Bar was an unexpected treat. The service was excellent, the prices reasonable and our food was very tasty.
We’ll definately return on a warmer day to spend more time walking around.

The Distillery is exactly what Toronto needs – this is a walking district, a historic district and a centre for arts and culture. I spent the day dicovering interesting boutiques and galleries and had lunch at a fabulous oyster bar. Great coffee shop and chocolate maker on site as well MUST SEE - best thing to do in the city of Toronto

I went to this place on a sunny afternoon. There was no special event, so not much was going on there. It has a very spacious courtyard as you can see from my photos. You can go in and out of a number of art stores, it reminds me a bit of Vancouver’s Grenville Island with the art shops. There is not too much to see, so it’s probably a good idea to see it and plan to eat a meal in one of the restaurants. I tried coffee beer there! Notably, a number of people stop by for coffee during their bike trips beside and along the highway. Worth visiting for locals, or people with time to spare as it is a little bit east of downtown.

Not worth it!
Yeah, I was there for WoofStock I. It was a couple of years ago & they’d converted Riverdale on Queen E into the set. Now, I might be harsh, but it was a hot day & there didn’t seem to be much to do if the dog market exercise hadn’t been going on …
Balzac’s CafĂ© looked like a lot of fun, but it was waaay too crowded to go in.
