It’s been a while since I’ve been to Jamaica, maybe 10 years or so but it’s still memorable. I spent 10 days in Montego Bay at an all inclusive resort. I also traveled to Ocho Rios and climbed the falls. Good times – beautiful country. :)

when flying into the airport, be prepared for a VERY long wait in customs.. the lines were long.. and they had to open & search every bag we had!! leaving took a long time as well!

Fellas- if you are traveling with friends that happen to be girls- and I MEAN this- WATCH OUT FOR THEM! Montego Bay’s hip strip is ROUGH at night. We had people in our group from Detroit, Michigan who couldn’t believe how rough Jamaica got at night.. even they left in a hurry. Be careful, but enjoy Montego Bay. It’s beauitiful.

The more rural parts of Jamaica are pretty peaceful in comparison. Also, watch vendors who don’t have prices listed and restaurants that do the same. Always be ready to negotiate with vendors- and be careful about street vendors, because the food they make isn’t always cooked properly.

    Not worth it!

My husband and I went on a cruise that stopped here, and it poured the entire afternoon (not a problem in itself). We were on the boat, and when it finally quit raining, we looked outside and all the trash from the island had washed into the bay. I can’t describe how disgusting it was. There was a line in the water, and on one side it was blue, and on the other it was brown with everything in it from a toilet seat to shoes and diapers. Not much from what we saw on land to recommend it, either.

Would you like some cigars or cigarettes. As the man got closer…I’ve got shrooms amd marijuana too. All this right on the beach.

Take an “unapproved” taxi, visit the Pork Pit and get your hair braided. Don’t forget to drink some Red Stripe and buy Blue Mountain coffee at the grocery store, not at the rip-off tourist shops.

hate to sound snobbery but it's sad if you stay in a resort...  — 2 years ago

the whole time and dont check out the city,

or go to the same tourist spot to hang out every night,

i tried to tell one of my friends that some people travel just to stay in their all inclusive resort, and never really get enlightened to the ways of the world…

i’ve seen ups and downs in jamaica, and loved it, it made me sad b/c the government essentially fucked shit up… there’s such a ack but i loved it, it’s little kingston,

i ate great ital food at Natureyzer on Church street,

stayed at some shitty hostels, pow wowed with the rasta man dem

    it was loverly

Stayed on a resort with my girlfriends. Nice Jamaican Breakfast every morning. The nearby beach was the most gorgeous I’ve seen. We did Dunn’s River Falls and took lots of pics.

We went clubbing everynight at Margaritaville. Learned all ”’dem dirty Jamaican dances”, including the “dirty wind”.

NOTE TO LADIES: If you truly want to fit in with the ladies at these clubs, make sure you wear your sheer mini and a thong. Oh yeah, be sure to hike it up as you grind, in case someone in the club actually missed a view of your bare butt cheek. -JK

But It was a pretty commercial experience, and it was cool.

The only real negative is getting ripped on prices at first by unscrupulous shopkeepers because we misunderstood Jamaican currency conversions, and they basically “saw us coming”.
Other than that. It was cool.
