A review of this place: I loved it!  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I stayed for tlwo weeks wiith a friend. i was a little put off by peoples reactions when i told then where i was going, but all the bad publicity was completely unwarranted! Everyone was really friendly, i had no problems at all! I would love to go back!

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Actually I lived their for a year 3 years ago. I wouldn’t say it’s a great city to visit, not even to live in, but it changed my life because many good things happened to me there and it was also my first experience abroad as a student.

The University of Birmingham is great.

A review of this place: GUADEC 2007 in Birmingham  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I had been hearing less-than-pleasant things about Birmingham since it was announced that GUADEC, the GNOME Users and Developers European Conference, was going to be held here. I was pleasantly surprised, Birmingham’s much nicer than I was led to believe it was going to be.

New Street is a very nice pedestrian mall, and there are plenty of clubs and pubs on Broad Street. I haven’t had the chance to explore much beyond downtown, unfortunately.

Birmingham has one of the Biggest Shopping centre in europe; Bullring. Do take photos with the BULL and the unique “metal plates” Selfridges. So guys, Do drop by and shop to you drop.

Beside shopping, do visit the pride of Birmingham, Univeristy of Birmingham. This is one of the most beautiful University in UK. She was built in year 1900 and the first traditional Redbicks University in UK.

There are actually many more…just pay a visit to any of the tourism centres in birmingham, and there are many free guides, magazines and freebies of Birmingham.

I moved here to go to Birmingham Uni. The best choice I ever made! Beats London (price wise) but is way bigger than any other city in England – there’s literally always something to do.

A review of this place: Amazing!  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

the shopping.. the diverse culture.. its completely amazing! ..my bf and i have been there a couple of times.. tis only a train ride in.. the place is enormous.. and bullring is awesome.. tis like its covered with silver smarties..lol.. love it!! definitely going to go back! :D

ps. just reading some other entries.. i guess its what you expect of the place.. and i never expected a thing.. and i think thats the best way to approach travelling, that way you appreciate places and things for what they are.. not what they’re thought to be.. it’s what you make it :)

I go to Birmingham regularly for work. Unfortunately, this doesn’t give me time to see the place, which is a shame.

The last time I went to this place  — 2 years ago

    Not worth it!

I went to a compulsory English lit conference and it bored me half to death. The people of birmingham weren’t very nice, after they had lost 7-0 to liverpool, i reminded them…Teeheehee
