Friendly, interesting, diverse, safe, affordable… There’s not really anything bad I can say about it. In fact, I might even add that it shits all over Sydney, haha!

swimming carnival for this
and it may not sound like a big deal, but being in my final year of high school, I pretty much wanted to OWN the races
we [the year 12’s] get to do a little song and dance at the end – I got a main role but now I don’t get to dance DDD:
then again, all these bands
I wouldn’t want to miss it :DDD

Worth visiting!
Oh … I miss Melbourne very much …

Melbourne is the second most populous city in Australia, with a metropolitan area population of approximately 3.74 million (2006 estimate). Located around Port Phillip Bay in the country’s south-east, Melbourne is the state capital of Victoria. A person from Melbourne is officially called a Melburnian.
Melbourne is a major centre of commerce, industry and cultural activity. The city is often referred to as Australia’s “sporting and cultural capital” and it is home to many of the nation’s most significant cultural and sporting events and institutions. It has been recognised as a global city by the Loughborough University group’s 1999 inventory. Melbourne is notable for its mix of Victorian and contemporary architecture, its extensive tram network and Victorian parks and gardens, and its diverse, multicultural society. It was the host city of the 1956 Summer Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Melbourne was founded by free settlers in 1835, 47 years after the first European settlement of Australia, as a pastoral settlement situated around the Yarra River. Transformed rapidly into a major metropolis by the Victorian gold rush in the 1850s, “Marvellous Melbourne” became Australia’s largest and most important city by 1865, but was overtaken by Sydney as the largest city in Australia during the early 20th century.
Melbourne served as the capital city of Australia from the time of the new nation’s Federation in 1901, until Federal Parliament moved to the new, purpose-built capital, Canberra, in 1927.

I want to go to Melbourne because it is the first town on the top cities list. So, I deduce that it would be nice to live there because the criteria that rank it first on the list are the climate that is very important for me, the housing, the crime rate, the transport, the education, the focus on the environment, the culture and events, the diversity, the connections with the rest of the world, the health services and the recreational activities. The climate in Melbourne is a moderate oceanic climate with hot, dry summers, with maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. I am fond of this type of climate. I suppose that there is some wind because Melbourne is located near the sea: I like it as well. Melbourne has an integrated public transport system known as Metlink. It is also the cultural and sport capital in the Australia : this point is very important for me because I can’t survive without the sport especially the handball !! Melbourne has excellent educational institutions like the Law, Engineering, Medical, Dental and Music schools. Melbourne is a city of diversity.
