    Huge second-hand shop?  — 4 months ago

    Worth visiting!

Last time I was in Berlin, I found a huge second-hand shop by mistake. I can’t remember which street or train stop it was, but I do remember I’d originally been looking for a flea market (maybe Arkonaplatz?), and that the shop wasn’t far from the station. The shop was about five or six storeys, the top few storeys each being devoted to clothes of a certain era. Anyone know which shop it is, and where it is? I’d be grateful for any answers.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 5 months ago

    Worth visiting!

Berlin now ranks as one of my favourite European cities. Lots of history, al fresco dining and very green with trees and parks everywhere. Plus the city transport system is excellent, with very good connections between the U-Bahn (underground metro system), the S-Bahn (overground rail system) and the trams (routes prefixed with “M”).

At the moment the city is football mad because of Euro 2008. Germany is in the semi-finals this week playing Turkey. There are huge flat screens up at many restaurants for people to follow the game. Great atmosphere!

See what remains of the Berlin Wall. I still remember watching it coming down on TV 19 years ago (wow, that makes me feel old!).

Why I want to go to this place  — 8 months ago

I had plans for attending the International Trademark Association’s annual meeting in Berlin this year. It’s pretty much career-essential, since it’s the best (and for me only) way to meet your foreign associates. I was cut due to budget constraints, so auf wiedersehen Berlin.

What I imagine this place to be like  — 8 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I’m going to Berlin this summer, in July to be precise. It’ll be my first flight ever, so of course I’m waiting for it and hoping that it’ll be lots of fun.
Good weather, breath-taking places, nice people and my first legal beer would be what I’m hoping for :)

A tip I have about this place  — 10 months ago

Try currywurst sausage while in Berlin. Legend has it that Currywurst was invented entirely by accident back in 1949 by Herta Heuwer, who mixed tomato sauce with curry powder and sausage.

A currywurst can be bought for 1.5 euros at places like Konnopke’s Imbiss: http://www.dirtcheapberlin.com/articles/4/1/Konnopkes-Imbiss-For-better-for-wurst—Berlins-oldest-sausage-seller/Page1.html

I just got back from Berlin and I liked it a lot, although the weather was bad (it was windy, cold and raining almost all the time). I really want to visit this city again when the weather is better and spend a little bit more time there, because the city really has a lot to offer (nice restaurants, cool clubs, many historical buildings and museums, shopping, etc.).

exceptional bar crawl  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

If you are on a budget and looking to check out berlin nightlife, get set up with the New Berlin Free tours. The tour guides are hilarious (they have to in order to get paid aka tips). but even better than the awesome, expansive and historical tour (better in a different way) was their optional bar crawl. you pay 11 euro and everyone meets at a bar with a free keg. then they take you to 4 or 5 ( i cant remember) amazing, unique, non tourist bars and pubs all the while supplying free screwdriver shots ( vodka and orange juice). it is completely worth it. you meet a ton of awesome people , have a great time and see alot of things you usually wouldnt have!
