A tip I have about this place  — 8 months ago

You have to go to Spearfish Canyon… It is beautiful… And if you’re into “off the beaten path” see if there’s a little place there called Rim Rock Lodge… I loved it. Old run down single room cabins with wood burning stoves… It was just what I was looking for. There’s even a few hikes around there… So enjoy, and don’t take some prissy girl who’s looking for room service cause this ain’t it! Charming, cozy, perfect… For me, but not for everyone! I loved it!

I have been to western SD on three different occasions and each time I left yearning for more. I would move there to live permanently if there was a way to make a decent living year round. I found that most of the business is from tourists and all of the tourists leave by the end of October and don’t return until around May when most of the businesses open back up again. I know many people who do live there, but they are working two and sometimes three jobs just to make ends meet. That’s just too high a price to pay for me. If I were to live in a place of such majestic magical beauty I would want to be able to have plenty of time to enjoy it. Oh well, I guess I will just have to keep going back. Oh darn! ;)

This is where I grew up, a good portion of my memories began here. My morals came from this state. It helped create who I am.

Love in South Dakota  — 1 year ago

I had always wanted to visit South Dakota ever since I was little, mostly because my grandpa was born and raised there, and I wanted to see what the big fuss was about Wall Drug. My boyfriend and I planned a trip this summer, and long story short, he proposed to me at Wall Drug! He had made a huge banner, shipped it to Wall Drug, and they hung it in the dining room the day we came. It was crazy, but all of the staff was extremely nice and awesome. We got lots of free Wall Drug bumper stickers and fudge. :)
