There are some truly hidden wonders in this city. The mosques are gorgeous. You wouldn’t, coming into the city, ever expect the history that dwells there. It’s teeming with rich stories of ancient days long passed. The bridges are architectural wonders, as are the mosques of course. The murals, all done by hand, are breathtaking. There was also a church and a museum with some of the oldest manuscripts. It is really a diamond in the rough.

go to Khaju bridge it is a very famose bridge. It has two levels of terraces overlooking the water. On a Friday evening, the bridge is crowded with young Esfahani’s having fun.below it there are couple of teahouses ;there u can eat , drink and smoke ghelion ( shisha,or known as hookah “remember Alice in wonderland”).the place is decorated w antique pieces .what ever you could think of ,it’s there.

I had read about Esfahān and was looking forward to going there: especially the Emām Khomeini square – the place I dreamed about before visiting Iran. It’s a magical space, with 500×160 m one of the largest squares in the world and a sublime example of town planning – it dates back to 1612 and was designed and built as a whole. It was early evening when I first walked onto the square, found myself a bench to sit on, and just drank in the experience of being in this beautiful space – watching people relaxing and playing on the quare at the end of the working or school day.
Another highlight of Esfahān is the Zāyande river, with a number of very old, and architecturally very interesting bridges across it. Oh, I certainly want to go back!

I lived here for 3 years in the late 1970s, before the revolution. The Esfahani people are some of the kindest and most sophisticated people I’ve ever met. The city was the capital of the Persian Empire during the Safavad dynasty, and in the 13th and 14th centuries lots of monumental buildings and bridges were constructed, many of which are still standing. Artistry in metal, leather, carpets and painting is still very important to the culture of the city. I remember being totally fascinated by the bazaar.
One day, I will go back.

I was totally blown away by the sheer beauty of this city. Esfahan is very popular for the number of historical sites it has and I realised why when i went to see just a few of them.
