I’ve lived there for 3 years while working at EPSON. I had a nice life there. I’ve made a lot of unforgettable moments.

Nagano is lovely. It’s not the most exciting place, no, but it’s still gorgeous. The people are friendly and it makes a fantastic break from Tokyo.

Do go and see the monkies! They are fantastic!

Very nice, we stayed here a week, at the hotel metropolitan nagano, right by the train station, which is convenient. The people here are very friendly and helpful. Right now I am in Tokyo, and I miss Nagano!

It is summer now and it was hot, I was happy to discover the subway entrances can also be used as pedestrian underpasses to cross under a street, rather than standing in the sun and heat waiting on the crosswalk. There was a tunnel from close to our hotel to the bottom of a department store closeby, to the bottom of a department store which was diagonally across the street from our hotel. I found this to be very convenient.

Many excellent day trips, wasabi farm, monkey onsen, etc.

Fresh air, blue skies, uncrowded, and not insanely humid. Many awesome day trips less than or about an hour away. Hakuba (skiing), Izuna (skiing, onsen, camping), and Jigokudani Monkey Park.

Nagano city... in transit  — 2 years ago

Can’t say I saw much of Nagano city, but it’s interesting nonetheless. The snow this time of year was nice without being a hassle, and the people are very nice and willing to help. Nagano-ken is a great place to see snow.

Nice, but not super exciting  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I was there in the summer, and it was a nice escape from the heat of the more famous cities to the south. There are many smaller villages in the area that are also worth seeing. The Zenkoji temple was the most memorable place I visited there.
