Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 11 months ago

    Worth visiting!

It’s fun. It’s an adventure. It’s historic. How do they make so many cakes? How do they make banana chips taste like potato? Where is that tank?

Get out. Get a 4WD and get out beyond Honiara and the ordinary hotels. The people are very friendly – have a chat! Learn a bit of pidgin before you go – it’ll go a LONG way.

You may occasionally see foreign soldiers in Honiara. Don’t worry – they’re only peacekeepers.

    Pack you snorkel and fins!

I went to the Solomon Islands on a family holiday when I was 9. I have distant memories of swimming at the beach, hikes through the jungle and watching Islanders climb coconut trees and harvest green coconuts.

I have fond memories of this holiday.

I was born in Honiara, but since reaching the age of holidaying independently of my family, the country hasn’t been in a state very conducive to tourism.

    A Dream  — 3 years ago

It’s one of the great dreams of my life to come to the Solomon Islands and all the other islands in this part of the world with an big old sailing ship. I hope one day it will come true….

I lived in the Solomon Islands for three years. I had a great time and everything seemed perfect to me, but I was young and it was a while ago. Everyone was always happy. And the water and islands were awesome, especially if you want to go diving; there were shipwrecks that were less than ten meters from the shore. The villages on different islands were much more fun than the capital, as the people were just glad to see you and their cultural was so different than anything that I was used to in Canada.
