Worth visiting!
This is where I was born and grew up! Amazing memories of living in a small village secluded from the world. No computers, cell phones or technology.

I went to visit a friend who was volunteering outside of Asuncion. It was definitely a great experience and made me thankful for everything that I have back here in the states. I’ll be back for some mate and chipa, though!

On a trip to La Colmena in the Paraguari department, I found awesome landscapes with colourful scenes of urban life such as sugar cane plantations (quite important nowadays for etanol and alternatives to petrol), rainforest and waterfalls!
In these area of Paraguay, it is located the famous Salto Cristal waterfalls (70 mts high). You need to do a bit of a hike to reach them because it is just in the middle of a rainforest. The trip it is worthwhile though as the views are awesome and if it is hot enough you can even swim.

i went there on sunday, what was a bad idea because me and my cousins were supposed to go shopping there and we arrived there like too late. we didn’t know that the commerce closes so early.
and then, when we got at that shopping china, it was like that supermarket-thing. “you got 30 seconds to get everything you can and direct yourself to check-out counter”.
although, it was a different experience for me that haven’t traveled “abroad” for a long time and i had time to buy a digital camera, a perfume and a coke zero that i was so anxious to try cause’ i can’t find here in brazil yet.
things are so cheap in paraguay. i wanna go there again (and this time, not on sunday)!

We are going to spend Chrsitmas at Iguacu Falls, and it would seem a pity to pass up the chance to wander into Paraguay.
The more I have read about this state the more curious I have become about it. I have read about the German colony in Nuevo Germania, and the Jesuit Missions; and their long and costly wars and it’s large black markets. It truly sound like a disaster zone and I have been told by some that there isn’t really much going on.
But this merely has the effect of making me more curious about the place.

to spend more than 20 minutes in paraguay and see more than just ciudad del este. There must be more to the place than cheap electrical goods!

I was spent 99% of my time in the country, but there was just nothing “oooooo” about the experience. I mean, I was on a volunteer trip and all, and it was nice to help out, but I wouldn’t break my bank to go here over any other place in the country come vacation time.
