Luxembourg

I’ve been in Luxembourg for 9 days and it was very nice! Although 9 days were a bit long for luxembourg alone (I also visited other cities in Germany and France in the neighbourhood of Luxemburg), it was worth it. I visited many castles in Luxembourg city, vianden, larochette, and beaufort. :) After 9 days I’ve seen enough culture. Unfortunately I don’t understand letzebuergs, which sounds like a mixture of German with a few Dutch and French words. It sounds really funny!

I really enjoyed spending time in Luxembourg. It’s pure Miyazaki-esque Europe without the tourists (in April – at least). My favourite area was the Grund (a small settlement below the city walls) which has some great little cafes.

Echternacht has some really nice hiking trails!

It’s not bad. Just small, and doesn’t seem to have much of an identity of its own. Before the onset of the Euro, it accepted three types of currencies—The French Franc, the Belgian Franc, and the German Mark. It’s pretty, though. Not bad for a lunch stop.

We always stay in Hotel Sonnenberg in Bollendorf, great place.

We just received an invitation to our friend’s wedding in Luxembourg. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with mates and see the city.

Luxembourg is a marvelous place. I advise anyone passing through it to stop there and spend an afternoon in Luxembourg City. The city preserved very well its architecture. There are a lot of amazing places to see. The small streets are full of nice restaurants and cafes where you can drink a coup of nice warn coffee and just sit and watch the world go by. There is a good parking in the very center of the city. It’s a bit hard to find a place, but with more patience and at least 20 minutes of waiting you will be able to find a spot and leave your car there for about 2 hours. When you do so you may visit most of the sights on foot. If you are planning a journey through Europe with your car it’s good to know that in Luxembourg you will find the cheapest gas in whole Europe.

I was there 5 years ago – and I still dream of this magical place…

I went Luxembourg when I was younger. We had some friends from New York that moved out there for work with two kids. One close to my age. We went to visit them, hung out, and they showed us around. A free place to stay in Europe was pretty nice. There were a few hedgehogs wandering around on our way back from a party. My sister and this girl made up a story that she lost her earing and us being boys didn’t even think to look at her ear (the earing was still there) so we said okay, figured we’d get bored helping to look so we went home. Really, they were just looking at all the hedgehogs.

Best food in Europe!
