Why I want to go to this place  — 2 weeks ago

I’ve been told it’s very nice. I think I should go there, knock up a nice, Catholic Latina girl who knows her place, and learn to speak Spanish.

Then send a nice flip of the bird to the millions of stuck-up, self-centered white North American women!! LOL

A tip I have about this place  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

DO NOT RELY ON STREET SIGNS. Okay, seriously. Costa Rica is gorgeous. But if you want to go somewhere, learn how to ask directions in Spanish. Also needed: The ability to understand the directions given to you in Spanish. Plus, nobody really pays attention to the stop signs and lights and such. And I don’t know about everywhere else, but there was one road feature I had never seen before, and my family called it the ‘suicide lane’. There was sometimes a lane in the middle of certain roads that was an either/or lane. At say, 1pm-4pm, the southbound traffic could use that lane. Then, from 5pm-8pm, northbound had access. Weird. And also, if you need something, go to Hiper Mas. It’s their Wal*mart.

In and Out  — 3 months ago

Costa Rica was the final stop on our Central American trek. Unfortunately, we had to cut our visit short due to some family issues back home, so I would love to come back again one day. We did have the best meal of the whole trip in San Jose, though :)

A tip I have about this place  — 3 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I´ve been in San Jose and then passed a week in the atlantic ocean side, in a small village of rastafari people called Puerto Viejo. Is a place really worthwhile to be seen.

I stayed hosted in such a pictoresque place : Cabinas Verdes. Totally recommed.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 5 months ago

    Worth visiting!

My life was changed forever by:
#Seeing pairs of scarlet macaws flying overhead then stopping to eat fruit on the grounds, seeing monkeys in their native habitat, and toucans, quetzals, iguanas, tree frogs, snakes, leaf cutter ants, anemones, sea cucumbers, sea slugs, and more.
#Eating fresh tropical fruit at breakfast and lunch daily; drinking the best cafe con leche (coffee); sampling the local food; going to local restaurants; eating real sugar, not fructose.
#meeting local people; seeing costa rican cowboys at the local “county” fair and more.
#rain forests, cloud forests, dry forest, farmland, volcanoes, plantations, biological stations, pacific beaches, and more.
how could my life NOT be changed by this wonderful country, its people and its resources? Go, explore, experience, live, then go back.

I lived in Costa Rica for three years from ‘93 to ‘96. An incredible experience that everyone should experience. The people are among the friendliest I have encountered.
