Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!
Cameroon is quite possibly the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life. The people are very warm and welcoming in a genuine way.

still remember the surprises the soccer team of cameroon gave to the world in the world cups in the 90s. and oh the dancing after a goal. so, yep, cameroon, it should be.

I was born in Tiko, Cameroon, and that’s where both my parents are from. I don’t remember much because it’s been 16 years ago, but in pictures that I have you can see how tropical some of the places are there.
It’s extremely hot over there, our dog died because of the heat, no joke. But not only is it hot, it will rain a lot too, a whole lot.

I lived here as a missionary kid for four years of my childhood. I remember it well. I really, really want to go back. Aside from that, I want to go to Africa in general.

Volunteering in Cameroon  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I atayed in a small rural village, Belo, near Bamenda, in the North West province, for 1 month doing health-related and community-development volunteer work. So it was quite a hands-on experience of the people and their culture. Didn’t see much else of Cameroon except neighbouring villages, (beautiful lush green mountainous surroundings) and staying in Yaounde for 1 day. The cities are chaotic and full of character and life. Rural life is peaceful and pleasant, and Africa time always applies—quite a pleasant experience for me, from the big city. Made good friends, would like to visit again in the near future.

Globetrekker Camaroon  — 2 years ago

was on last night, and while i’ve always wanted to go to Africa. . . this was a great program and gave an excellent glimpse of the country. Camaroon wasn’t on my ‘Africa list’ before, but it certainly is now.

On my next-to-last day in Montpellier, I stopped to buy a henna tattoo on the street on my way toward the bus station. While he was drawing on my hand, the tattoo guy spoke very passionately about his homeland in Cameroon. He said things were more real, and that people weren’t as motivated by money and tourism and that the people’s motives and ambitions were more pure. I got so sucked into what he was saying that I almost missed my bus and swore to make it to Cameroon someday.
