Why I want to go to this place — 4 months ago
I’ve been told that Bolivia is like Peru before it was discovered by tourists.

Currently I am in Bolivia. I have been here for about a month now, and I leave in eight days. I’ve had an amazing time here and it’s been such a good experience for me! I am staying in Santa Cruz but we also went to La Paz for five days.

This is where my boyfriend is from. His family really wants me to come stay there for a while so I can experience their culture for myself. Hopefully that’s something I’ll get to do in the next year or so.

I visited Bolivia for one month in 2001/2002.
Bolivia has a wide diversity of undiscovered sites. Although I was there for a month I eed to go back to see Maldides and the salt flats, and Lago Titicaca!
I did see Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, La Paz, a convention center in the Alti Plano and Tiwanaku!
There is a great School called Runawasi where you can learn Spanish or Quechua and stay with a local family. I did this for one week and it was great. Nice room, good teacher, firendly family and one home cooked meal a day!
I want to go back soon.

Right after I graduated High School, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or what I wanted to do, there was a lot of conflict between me and my parents. The one thing we agreed on was that I wanted to learn spanish, and I had some friend in La Paz, Bolivia who were willing to let me live with them for three months.
So I went.
First time living away from home, in a different country, a language I didn’t know, away from all my friends, and everything familiar.
It was a GREAT experience. I learned spanish, and made a lot of new friends. I volunteered at a christian school teaching pre-schoolers, and became a translator with a group of nurses from the U.S. doing free clinics in the countryside of Bolivia.
I want to go back someday, but until then I will allways relive my Bolivia memories with fondnes.

Not worth it!
i traveled to bolivia in 2004 and, despite i’d been only near the border to brazil it seems to me like a sad, poor and broken place. it’s too depressing to worth visiting.

Juliana Jups asks,
“I'm going to Peru and Bolivia with 6 other friends, we'll spend 20 days there, in July. I would love to know if it'll be too cold to do the Inca Trail, and which other places I should visit. All suggestions will be welcome and very appreciated! =D”
