Worth visiting!

I visited Fraser Island in the most awful weather. It was August 2005 and it rained and rained and was so cold which was a shame. It’s still a beautiful place though and I want to go back on a sunny, hot day. I stayed at the Outrigger Resort (lovely but quite expensive) in Hervey Bay. Visited Torquay Beach the day after Fraser Island and it was warm and sunny with pelicans walking up and down the beach. Amazing.

Worth visiting!

I took a trip up to Fraser Island from Noosa on 4 June 2006 courtesy of http://www.fraserislanddiscovery.com.au/ The trip was great, went up in two Nissan Patrols and with the help of our very experienced tourguides/drivers had a great day.

How this place changed my life  — 11 months ago

Worth visiting!

Extremely peaceful and beatiful place. Where else can you be totally away from it all, but not get lost. Every minute spent on the island was pure bliss! Would love to go back!

Worth visiting!

That’s the only word to describe this place. The weekend I visited was extremely windy with fishing practically impossible. But even so…..unbelievable place. I want to live there!

Worth visiting!

Recently came back from 4 nights at Kingfisher Bay Resort. Highly reccommned getting a villa if you can afford it. Was lucky enough to share the cost of 2 bedroom villa with a spa on the deck with 3 friends. Cost to hire a 4WD was too much for us,so we went on a 1/2 day coach tour of Central and through some of the rainforest and a stop at Lake Mackenzie. Even though it was winter the weather was fab and warm enough to swim ( a bit ! ). Morning canoe ride and various walks are good to do and the bush tucker talk and taste was well worth the $10. Relaxing massages and other beauty stuff is available, and the sunset on the jetty is not to be missed ! Oh, and the cocktail of the day was fun too ! :)

Variety is the spice of the world's largest sand island  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I’ve been there twice to the rainforest at Central Station, Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, Lake Wabby, Indian head, Champagne Pools, Coloured Sands, Moheno Wreck, Eurong, Happy Valley, ? Basin Lake, Seventy-Five Mile Beach, Moon Point, Orchid Beach.

It’s a stunningly beautiful place.

It’s odd how a world heritage area can have little enclaves in the national parks where the rich people live, but they stop people camping on the beach because of environmental damage.

You really have to go out of your way to find out about the Indigenous history/culture of the place, but it’s easy to find out about its more recent European past – no different to anywhere else I guess.

But anyway, it’s a great place with so much variety, and interest in terms of geology and biology. A great relaxing holiday and learning experience.

I... think it must have been great..!?  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

..but it’s almost 11 years since I went, so I can only remember driving in the jeep and having breakfast on the beach. And the lake & the dune in the forest. Hmm. And it’s not like I was 5 or something… strange. I get envious of all the people who actually remember stuff from there – or took pictures! No talk about digital cams at that time, but I could kick myself for not taking more (?) pics in Australia.
Guess I have to go back.

World's longest sand island (I think?!)  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I went on a 4X4 tour through the rainforest and out on the sand. We had afternoon tea in the rainforest as well. Amazing place!
