Five days, huh?
Day 1. The beach. I’d get a portable hammock from Dicks – a very worthwhile investment. Set up somewhere not too far from the pier as the tide’s coming in and watch for surfers. Eat at Beachside Seafood or Sun Dog.
Day 2. Culture Time. I’d hit Riverside and 5 Points for some window shopping, the Cummer Museum for it’s art and it’s nice view of the St. Johns, and Sushi Cafe for a Mountain Yak roll.
Day 3. Day Trip Time. Ride out to Mayport, eat at Singleton’s Seafood Shack, and take the Ferry to Ft. George to go exploring. Come back and have a beer at Mayport tavern. Ride down to the lighthouse.
Day 4. Downtown. Begin at the new library, and see the Jacksonville Museum of Art. Next, take in a Suns baseball game, followed by dinner at Mongo’s and a drink at Twisted Martini, both at the Landing.
Day 5. Hmm, I’ve only lived here for seven months, and I’m pretty content with the above. I’d rest, personally. However, you can always nab a copy of Folio magazine (comes out on Tuesday), sit out at the pizza joint in San Marco, and think up something to do that night. Enjoy!
