It’s an optical illusion. I used to work at the University there and helped to escort a field trip to the Mystery Spot with a couple of science professors. It was great because they explained all of the illusions which trick your mind. Basically, your mind is fooled because there are no right angles. We usually look for right angles when we visually size things up.
