Austin
I don’t know why it’s not showing up. :/
Basically, I just started going here, and any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Try not to get too caught up in the partying. When I first got to Austin, that was my biggest problem. Make sure that you get all of your work done first, then have a great time. I’ll tell you, I wouldn’t have traded my time at UT for anything. Also, I lived off campus, which I think was a good idea for me, but ate all my meals on campus. This way, I didn’t have to go home to eat, and then run back to campus to study.
Have a great year and best of luck in all you do!

Take the time to explore Austin! It’s such a fantastic city, unlike any other.
Also, don’t be afraid to check out the cultural parties/shows on campus. They’re really interesting and open to others.

go to this website…www.collegeprowler.com and buy the book abou the University of Texas, it will honestly tell you so much about Austin and about school here—anything you might want to know from dorms, to classes to sorority and fraternity rush to restaurants and shopping. It has quotes from actual students and was written by me, a former student, right after I graduated in 2003 and it has been updated since then. I’m not just saying this because I wrote it, because I’m not even making royalties off of it anymore, but it will help you a lot. You can even buy it cheaper on amazon.com if you want. The title is Off the Record:The University of Texas. If you search University of TExas on amazon it will come up. Anyway, good luck-this is an amazing school and an amazing town, I wish I was just starting out again, college was the best time of my life.

I lived on campus my first two years and that was a great solution for me. I met my roommate Jane by pot luck and she became a lifelong friend for me. We recently returned from a trip to London together, along with her sister. Living on campus can be a nice way to meet people and learn a lot about the university. I later lived in an apartment, but I would not have traded my dorm life for anything.
I totally agree with the advice to get your work done first. It is very easy at a university like UT in a place like Austin to find distractions—many, many of them. There is always some place to go, something to do, and many, many people with whom to do it. Part of the discipline of the university is learning how to set priorities and work to meet them. Have fun, but don’t let your fun rob you of your education. Believe it or not, working hard and earning a degree can be fun, also. It is exhilerating, in fact, and will last you a lot longer than all the partying in the world.
