Does anyone know of a good thrift store in Asheville?

Well, Goodwill is wonderful. There’s one on Tunnel Road (across from the shopping area with Target, Dick’s, etc), and one on Patton Ave (next to the DMV). Twice Round on Haywood is nice, I think it’s still there, it’s pretty nice, not too expensive, since it’s used clothes, but the clothes are nice. And there’s one on Merrimon, it’s a little expensive, but they have 75% off sales twice a year, which is very, very nice.

Yes, Twice Round is still located on Haywood Rd. I like it because I can get a cool shirt for $4, and then sell it back when I have outgrown it :-(

I’d say my favorite thrift/consignment/resale shop in Asheville is Etcetera I think it’s called. It’s on Patton Ave out towards Leicester. It has a ton of stuff though

For clothes-I agree with people above-the Goodwill on Tunnel Road by the Asheville Mall often has great stuff, and I often find pieces new with tags. The Goodwill on Smokey Park in W. Asheville is indeed huge. Enchanted Forrest on Merrimon has unique, boutique stuff. I love Habitat for Humanity for used furniture. The Salvation Army on Patton in W. Asheville is a bit grungy but I’ve found great furniture there.

If you are looking for a “Womans Exchange” sort of place where you can find all sorts of antiques, oriental rugs, knick knacks, curios, and collectible pieces (high end stuff), then you should not miss the “Biltmore Exchange”. It is located in historic Biltmore Village on Sweeten Creek Road. It is in a lovely renovated warehouse, and instead of items strewn about all over the place, each furniture piece and decorator set is placed into its own niche… It is a very peaceful and relaxing stop for any afternoon. [Have lunch and a stroll on the Estate Grounds before or after you are through.] I have found many pretty treasures here, though the prices are not user friendly. However, if you are also looking to consign items, they have a decent commission structure.
