Boulder

A question about this place:
I'm moving to CO in the fall and am trying to decide where to go, Boulder vs. Fort Collins? I am looking for a liberal, young, and active town. I know both probably fall under this description, but does anyone have any opinions on one over the other?

Boulder definitely fits that description best.

Boulder for sure.

Agreed. Fort Collins is a little bit more rural, although probably cheaper to live in. Boulder has been a town that fits your description for like 40 years.

Definitely Boulder.

No doubt it would be Boulder..Fort Collin is a bit ‘dead ”, sorry to say that :)

I personally think the only 2 places that’s “happening” in Colorado is Boulder and Aspen. Hope this info helps and enjoy your stay in Colorado!

Cheers!

P.S. Good choice moving to Colorado, very safe state!

i hope you moved to boulder. i’ve lived in boulder for over two years and fort collins for two years before that. while fort collins has a nice downtown with an artsy, yound vibe and some restaurants, that’s only a very small part of the place. boulder is llike downtown fort collins, except the whole city is that way rather than one cut out part. if you are a young family looking for a wholesome suburban lifestyle with an outdoorsy yet slow paced and generally mundane atmosphere, go to fort collins. it has great parks, and some great places close by for just getting outdoors. boulder is much more hip, it’s got two great dynamics, the cu boulder + yuppie liberals and they somehow mesh well between the hill, pearl street and the little neighborhoods in the foothills. there is sooo much to do here in the summer, the farmers market is phenomenal, tubing, hiking, exploring off the beaten pearl street, so many small shops (though they ten not to stay in business very long unless it’s a boulder fixture) great restaurants, great apartments, ahh!! the weather, the cyclists, the skater chumps toward campus and the lauren-conrad-like sorority girls who love them, boulder is somehow diverse, despite it being almost completely white washed. make sure you go to niwot for a short day. camping, take a bikeride in an afternoon thunderstorm, eat at hapa, go to the lazy dog, make friends with the regulars around barnes and noble and whole foods, go to the apple store, HIKE, A LOT, turn the campus into your home, use the bus system, crash a party on the hill, go sledding at scott carpenter (or a better hill if you know of one) volunteer at one the many philanthropic orgs.////
boulder is the way to go. i’m going to have a tough time leaving this place.

If you have the cash, then yeah, Boulder is definitely THE place to live but remember, do yourself a favour and have the cash, enough for living expenses for 6 months in the event you cannot find a job.
