You can get a used concho for around $750.00 USD. A new one for maybe $1200.00
The Dominican concho-style motorcycles are like the family sedan’s of USA.
A scooter (Pasola) is like an entry level bachleor’s vehicle, but you can still carry a chicken, your spouse, and two children at the same time, as is the DR custom.
I’d recommend a Yamaha Sarrow (dirt/trail bike), as you can get it repaired VERY easily, even if you break down in the middle of nowhere. However, the concho would be even cheaper and easier to fix.

It’s what I saw in the Dominican Republic when I lived and worked in Jarabacoa for two years… a live chicken on each handlebar. :-)

you dont have to buy one, you can rent one for about $25-30 pesos a day, or if you just want to use one as a taxi- going rate:
day time $10 pesos per person
night time $20 pesos per person

I am very intrigued by this question..
Oddly enough we don’t manufacture the bikes as they are standard issue from china and japan.
If you want to see if it is profitable to start manufacturing bikes in the DR I would say yes.
A new bike would be pretty easy to find at $1,000.00 USD… if you can make them at around that price then you have game.
A good political friend and you have already sold plans to build 100,000
