Careful with that question—it’s a good way to start a war in certain circles!
Honest answer is, it depends on your taste. My preference is toward a wing with lots of meat that isn’t dripping with sauce, but that still has a good deal of “zip” to it. Places like the Pearl Sreet Grill serve wings this way, and offer several options flavor- and heat-wise.
If you like lots of sauce, Duff’s serves a big, meaty wing that tastes great, and is “authentic” Buffalo-style. They consistenly rank high on everyone’s list. Rootie’s used to be my favorite, but it’s closed.
If you are coming to Buffalo as a tourist, you’ll want to try the wings at Anchor Bar, which is where they were invented. I’ve personally never eaten there, so I can’t attest to the style or quality, but for historical purposes, they’re on the list.
If you are coming from out of town, avoid Buffalo Wild Wings. Not because their wings aren’t great (they are) and not because they don’t offer variety (like 12 sauces!?)—but it’s a chain that started in Cleveland, of all places. And you can visit there in any large city in the US.

You guys beat me! I was going to say the Anchor Bar is where they originated and the wings are OK there, but Duff’s definitely has the best wings. By far.

Gabriel’s Gate on Allen Street has some of the best wings (meaty, spicy, well cooked and prepared, good blue cheese) in Buffalo. Duff’s on Sheridan and Millersport has some of the hottest (and messiest) wings.
It’s Buffalo, you will find decent wings at most of the mid-sized restaurants in downtown, especially near Fountain Plaza and HSBC Arena.

JEEESCH!!
Ya trying to start a civil war????
What a question…...
Well, seriously…..at the risk of upsetting some people….
...my pick is Duff’s!!
BAR NONE!
The Anchor Bar back in the day was good….then, quite literally, went to hell…...and in the past few years, has come back and is now making really good wings.
But I still have to say Duff’s!

It really depends on the kind of wings you want.
see here in Buffalo there is more than one kind of chicken wing.
I LOVE Just Pizza’s wings. They have a ton of selections and all of them are pretty good.
The best from Just Pizza is Chiavetta chicken wings. They taste like grilled chicken with Chiavetta’s sauce( another Buffalo favorite) and are great in the summer.
La Nova’s wings aren’t bad either. They have amazing sauce that you can smell from 500 feet away.
Duff’s wings are all right but I dont ever think of them when I think of wings from the City of Buffalo.
True Buffalo Chicken Wings are sold at the Anchor Bar. And if the true Chicken wing is what you want then I suggest going there.
