I wouldn’t respond ‘normally high’ at all. I think like any resort-type area where the difference between high and lower income is huge, yeah there will be spotty crime.

There are plenty of resource on the inet where you can research and compare statistics – just look into the different cities of the peninsula.

Like anywhere else there is crime, but it’s not something I’d worry about mentioning to someone potentially living here, unless it’s a shady neighborhood that I’m familiar with. They exist.

I moved to the Monterey Bay 2 years ago from Colorado Springs and I don’t see any difference, with maybe the exception of Salinas being high. I live in the North Bay and work in the South Bay.
