Burbank can be expensive, and is home to a lot of pros in the entertainment industry. It may be more fun to live in a slightly younger town – this is more a place for people in their late twenties on up who are more established, including those with kids. It’s friendly, sedate, somewhere you can walk the dog. I used to walk to Poquito Mas all the time. If you’re thinking about moving to LA or to a new part of town, not married or still getting established, you might consider North Hollywood’s arts area.

Burbank
My wife and I have lived in Burbank since 2002 and it has been very good to us. The city is very well run, very good for our family, lot’s of parks, amenities, etc.
Burbank has a less claustrophobic and mellower feel than the much younger/hipper Hollywood just over the hill, but if you need the better record shopping, coffee, nightlife, Hollywood is just a quick run over Barham (don’t go during rush hour, though! ;) ).
Burbank is quite expensive, especially for home-owning, but the school district is top-notch and home values seem to hold their value.
Food is pretty decent, but not out of this world. Casual dining like Bob’s Big Boy, Paquito Mas are good.
Yes, this is very much an entertainment town, from the studios to periphal support businesses and residents.
Downtown Burbank is generally very bustling and has potential, but a ways to go to match the “coolness” factor of the west side. Magnolia park is another interesting area that has much potential . Porto’s Bakery just opened up at Magnolia and Hollywood Way and has done much to enhance the visibility of that area.
