Bank Street Hostel, it’s in Old City, which is a nice part of town.
Other then that you are looking about hotels are at least $80 or up.
Getting from Bank Street to the Game is simple, walk one block north, get on the blue line going toward 69th street, get off at City Hall, transfer to the Orange Line going southbound, get off at the last stop Pattison
The ride cost $2.60 round trip

I would suggest the Holiday Inn in olde city. It’s affordable and in a nice, quiet part of town where u can experience true Philly cuisine, museums, etc.. but not be overrun with tourist. It’s also close to all the major attractions like the Liberty Bell, The Mint and it’s close to major transportation.
Good luck!

well… i’d stay in south jersey :)
the phillies stadium is just over the walt whitman bridge, so if you stayed in say, deptford, you could get a good price and definitely not be staying in a tourist-y area! :)

It is very important that you know what you would like to do and where you’d want to stay, neighborhood wise. If you have a baby, you probably would not want to stay in the heart of the city (unless you go on an “off peak” night. It could get quite noisy. The hotels in the city are at least $100/night. As you go outside of the city it is cheaper but not by alot and you REALLY have to know the neighborhood. I did a quick search on travelocity.com and found this…
The Holiday Inn Philadelphia Stadium is within a mile of Citizens Bank Ballpark, Lincoln Financial Field, and Wachovia Center, approximately five miles from downtown Philadelphia and four miles from Philadelphia International Airport. Local attractions include Philadelphia Zoo, Tweeter Center, Franklin Institute, and Penn’s Landing.
The most touristy section of the city is Independence Hall, around 5th and Market / Chestnut Streets, though, it may not be as touristy at this time of year. If you are there on a Friday, Old City has “First Friday” which is a fun way to see art with open galleries and street performers. I would suggest the hotel above as a fist option if you can afford it. You may want to call ahead and find out more information (safety and noise). If you decide to stay in the city, I would suggest staying by the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Ben Franklin Parkway and take Taxis or the Subway to get a look at the city.
I hope this helps!

I went in July a couple years ago and we stayed in the Hampton Inn by the convention centre. From what I remember, the street we were on was pretty quiet. We had to go to the convention centre a lot though, so it was way busier around there and on the other side of it.. As for knowing the neighborhood, we didn’t really know anything. I think the people at the hotel told us everything we needed know about how to get to the places we wanted to visit etc. It was a nice hotel though. It had a continental breakfast too, but no restaurant. There was a little diner type thing across the street that we went to a couple times, but there were also bigger restaurants within walking distance.
