I had a particular unique time at the ISKON temple. It was awesome and totally opposite my culture. great fun.

I also loved a club/bar caller spin. and had an absolute wonderful meal at a really swank and small place called cosmo village (29 Magrath Road, Opp. Sullivan Police Grounds).

Must-see places:

The Bangalore palace
Lalbagh gardens
Cubbon Park
Vidhana Soudha (The state legislative house…it’s an awesome monument)

check out www.bangalorebest.com for list of eatouts and shopping haunts.

Hope that helps,

Depending on what type you are.. don’t miss:
Brigade road – simply because its so “Bangalore ish”
The pubs – for the same reason

Cubbon park – to see some trees (The privacy starved couples come free)

Go for walks – its fun in Bangalore. You have pretty girls and handsome hunks if you are in a people-watching mood and a whole lot of “real people” in between

A bookshop called Premier on the corner of church street – its floor to wall book collection is esoteric, exhaustive and very entertaining. The amazing propreitor who can find any book you want from that mass of printed material is even more amazing. (He was stil around, last I looked)

Koshy’s restaurant: Its the msot nutcase place you can find with an ambience I’ve never experienced anywhere else. Its a mix of a kamat hotel, an irani cafe, a french coffee house, a great restaurant, and good drinks – eveything from coffee to cocktails.

Go see a Kannada movie starring Shivraj Kumar (there’s bound to be one playing somewhere). Never mind if you dont understand the language – If Indian cinema its an experience in itself, Kannada cinema is in a diferent plane – and Shivraj Kumar – thats stratospheric!! I guess you figured what I am recommending is not serious cinema – but its fun.:-)

Enjoy your stay.

Mysore. It’s about three hours from Bangalore by train, if I remember correctly – an excuse to ride in Indian trains! – and it’s a far, far, far better tourist spot than Bangalore. Within Bangalore itself, the whole laid-back-town-transformed-into-bustling-city is probably the most interesting part of it. There are also some nice looking old British buildings around as well. I’ve heard the zoo is quite nice, although I haven’t been there yet.

Hey!

B’lore is lite on touristy places…The Vidhana Soudha is pretty impressive though. The parks are numerous, but mediocre…infact some tree lined avenues look fabulous, especially when it’s the blooming season.

I’m not sure what you’ll be shopping for, but the malls are pretty popular (& crowded): Forum Mall @ koramangala, & Garuda Mall in the CBD. Apart from this..it’s Brigade Rd, MG Rd and Commercial St….and National Market in Gandhinagar….which is the gray market.

Gastronomically & alcoholically….Bangalore has a lot to offer…Try out the chilly beef (Thought you’d be interested….from your name) at Pecos on Rest House Rd or Mojo’s on Residency Cross Rd…pretty spicy, but you can wash it down with chilled Kingfisher Beer (which has become a symbol of Blore) Try out an Andhra Restaurant like Nandhini, Nagarjuna etc…Andhra food’s really really spicy (esp the Andhra Chilli cicken)

The roadside kebab stalls in Fraser Town, Shivajinagar & Fanoos in Johnson Market.

For clubbing, there’s Noir at Le Meridien, Tuscan Verve on Rest House Rd, Taika on Church St, ...check this for more watering holes…http://beantown-buzz.blogspot.com/ ...u can also post ur questions
. How long these places remain open is anybody’s guess…anytime from 11:30PM to 2:30AM…depending on when the cops decide to shut the place for the night.

Any ways hope you enjoy your visit.

Hello!
The one thing you do not want to miss is the pubs in and around MG Road and Brigade Road. If you are in the mood of gift shopping you should not miss the Cauvery Arts and Crafts Emporium. You get some great sandalwood gifts the smell of which will transport you into another world…. Located at the Intersection of Brigade Road and MG Road. St.Mary’s Church (Basilicca) is another popular tourist spot that you may not want to miss. Very close to MG Road, it is located in a place called Shivajinagar. Very crowded place. Other points of interest could be the Vidhana Sabha which is the state Legislative Building. It sure is a monument…. Then of course there are the new shopping malls around the city… Forum in Koramangala. Commercial Street has some very upscale stores to do some decent shopping. So also Brigade Road. Visit one of the movie theaters in the city….There is so much to do and the people are very friendly to foreigners..Have fun and enjoy yourself…...
