A question about this place:
We're coming up for a play on our anniversary. Looking for a really nice hotel, preferably w/in walking distance of the Performing Arts Complex. Recommendation?

Dito on the Brown or checkout the Oxford, also pricey but very swanky. Plus they’ve got the Cruise Room on the first floor which is a great 20s style art deco bar and you’re right by the 16th St mall free bus so you can get all over downtown.

Certainly, you can’t go wrong with the Brown, and the Oxford is very nice. However, if you’re looking for the best hotel near the Performing Arts complex, you must consider the Hotel Teatro (http://www.hotelteatro.com/). It’s right around the corner from the complex, boasts one of the premier rsetaurants in Denver (Restaurant Kevin Taylor), and it’s won numerous awards, including Zagat’s Best Denver Hotel for 2005.

I guess you can tell we all like the Brown. Something more affordable, but extremely reliable is the Marriott Downtown Denver.

I guess it’s unanimous, the Brown Palace is awesome! Very pricey though. Another one to check out is the Westin. It has fantastic beds! and it’s right off of 16th street. You can walk from there to the Cheesecake factory which I think serves that late. It is also close to a fun nightclub, The Purple Martini. Not sure about many other places to eat, it’s been awhile since I was downtown that late.

Well, contrary to all suggestions here, we didn’t stay at the Brown. Thought about it, even made a reservation, but it was between that the Marriott Courtyard. In the end, mostly due to speaking with an acquaintance of mine who’s stayed at the Brown and wasn’t impressed, we ended up at the Marriott. It was a great hotel; the front-desk staff were really good, the room was nice though a tad small, the bed comfortable, and the view was great (huge window overlooking the 16th Street Mall). My one complaint was the check-in/out times (too late and too early, respectively), but otherwise we were very happy with it. two blocks from where we had dinner, two blocks from the DPAC.
