Canterbury Cathedral is obviously the first thing to see. I also really liked St. Augustine’s Abbey as well.
Dover isn’t too far from Canterbury, and the castle is one of my favorites. It’s been kept fairly original and is well-preserved; you can go into the Medieval tunnels under the moat, you can explore the WWII bunkers and tunnels, and there is a Roman pharos (lighthouse) on the grounds. Plus, you get to see the white cliffs. =)
Deal Castle is close; I’ve never been there, but really want to- it looks interesting.

Thank you very, very much for the suggestions. All the suggestions sound good. I love the sounds of those Medieval tunnels and WWII bunkers. White cliffs is an amazing suggestion too!!!
Did you get a chance to do Canterbury Tales? If so how was it?

No, I actually didn’t do Canterbury Tales. I sadly only had a day to do both Canterbury and Dover- and we took a bus (never do that! trains are so much better!) all the way from Oxford where I was studying. So we spent some time at the Cathedral, the Abbey, and Dover.
Canterbury Cathedral is amazing- be prepared to spend at least 2-3 hours there. It’s huge, and there are so many memorials to see- including ones for Thomas a Becket, St. Anselm, and the Black Prince.
St. Augstine’s Abbey is in ruins, but his grave is still there. St. Augstine was sent to Britain by Rome in the 500s as a missionary, so the abbey is about 1500 years old.
There was a visitor’s centre near the bus station in Canterbury that had lots of maps and English Heritage brochures that suggested places to go. There’s tons to see in Kent. =)

Probably a bit late (I expect you’re already there) but another option is a day trip to France. It only takes 1.5 hours by sea from Dover, and you can have a look around Calais or Boulogne.

Yes, I’ve already been. No worries though. We did make it out to Dover Castle but not make it to France. We just had so much on. In the future possibly.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
