Be sure to check out Canyon Road just a block or so from downtown — it’s one of the main reasons Santa Fe’s famous for its art scene
Day trips: High road to Taos, Los Alamos-Jemez Springs-Valles Calderas, Turquoise Trail-Madrid, Bandelier/Tent Rocks/Puye Cliffs, Ghost Ranch at Abiquiu

When I went to Santa Fe in 2004, my partner and I drove the 35 miles or so to Los Alamos to visit the Bradbury Science Center.
I’ll second GirlPaint’s mention of Bandelier: the cliffs there are amazing.
