Bali is very safe. I got back from there a week ago.

There is quite much to do in Bali. I went to visit Ubud, there’s a lovely monkey forest there. Just adorable.

The rice terraces, volcanos, temples, beaches. So much things to do. I personally loved Dreamland beach.

The traffic there is awful, so didn’t rent a car on motorbike of my own, just took a car with a driver. It’s cheap and the driver usually knows a lot of great places to visit. It was the driver who suggested the paradise-like beach to me.

Annoying part is to agree over the price every time and everywhere, but it’s how they are used to.

A small tip for you – if you wnt to shop for something, don’t buy from streets. Ask a driver to take you to Krishna shop – it’s a shop with fixed prices and the locals buy the stuff they are selling on the streets from there. Much cheaper prices ;)

Bali is a great place for parties. Very many young people there having a time of their life.

One of my coworkers is Balinese and has been trying to sell me on a trip there for the past year. He keeps reinforcing how safe it is contrary to perceptions. And I would be there already if flights weren’t about $2k from New York. One of my friends from France has been living there and loves it, basically running around partying for the past 6 months and has yet to tell me any kind of remote horror story (unless you count being wasted and usual drunken shenanigans). Everyone I know stayed in either Kuta or Seminyak. I’ve heard Kuta is more touristy (read: it has a Hard Rock cafe) but has a lot of bars and the like around there and is a great time for young people. My friend that’s living there is in Seminyak which has beautiful beaches and he’s party promoting there for some clubs as well. Sorry for the second hand advice, but overall I’d definitely say go there if you have the chance!
