No… it’s not true!
Actually yellow and green are commonly used in clothes reminding the brazilian flag! All colors are welcome here!

Of course it’s not true. You can wear any colors here, don’t worry about it.
I’m wondering how some kind of story begins to be spread. And why shouldn’t someone wear some color in your clothes? I can see any reason for this kind of thing.

HEY! It’s not very common for Brazilian people to wear this combination on their daily routine… but there’s nothing wrong about it either. You can wear it for sure!!!

Here’s my take on it:
Of course you can wear yellow and green. BUT that is like the equivalent of wearing “stars and stripes” in the US. That is, it’s a theme very much associated with the identity of the nation/flag, and used heavily in conjunction with events of high patriotism. In the US, the 4th of July. In Brazil, international soccer matches.
So, if I saw someone wearing yellow and green, I would assume either (a) they are soccer fans and are celebrating something I’m unaware of (not being a soccer fan myself), or (b) they are trying to emphasize their recognition/appreciation for Brazilian patriotism (for whatever the reason might be).
I hope that made sense.
Cheers!
