You should check out the Castle at Castelldefels. It is located just south of Barcelona (a 10min train ride or so). The little town is removed from touristy feel. It is very nice and the Castle is very old. They also have the nicest beach around! I lived there for a year and commuted to Barcelona…well worth it.

Try eating calçots, now is the season. They’re long tender onions you have to dip in a sauce made of nuts, pepper and almonds.

Go to Bosque de Fadas, a bar that is decorated as if you were inside a magic forest :) It’s a step away from the Ramblas, inside the wax museum building! :)

Bosgue de Fadas is definitely worth a stop to get a drink. I loved the Paul de La Musica – although that may be on your list of touristy places. My favorite bar there was sidecar – not sure if it is still around but it was a lot of fun. La Pipa Club is this little hidden Sherlock Holmes bar that I think you should check out. It was a little difficult to find, kinda like a those speakeasy bars in NY, and I don’t remember exactly where it was. This might be the address- Plaça Reial, 3, 08002 Barcelona, Spain +34 933 01 11 65

Try the beaches !! Barcelonetta beach is amazing ..
If you’re going alone and you’re young aged you’ll enjoy bars at night …near the docks of Barcelonetta
If you’re with you family you can take them in the morning to either maremagnum..at the end of the Rambla or to the 3D movie building or to the Barcelona zoo..
