My favorite museum in NYC is MoMA – Museum of Modern Art. The other thing to do if you are at MoMA is to get “Platters” for dinner. It’s just a little cart that sells food, but you have to go to the one that has a very long line, they are the one with the good food.

If you aren’t into modern art, a really great show to see is the Blue Man Group or other Broadway shows. The Met also has some great art if you are into older art.

I hope that helps!

The MoMA is a good idea. Plus at certain times on Friday night it is free. The Met is always a great museum to go to and one of my personal favorites is the ICP- International Center for Photography. I believe they have an exhibit called the Mexican Suitcase and Cuba in Revolution going on right now. I am going to go see it soon! There is also a little bookshop in there that sells all kinds of photography books. There are galleries all over the place. Maybe you could research an area of the city you would like to explore and find out some galleries to go to within those specific neighborhoods. Hope that helps!

Depends on what you’re into. I’m personally a science geek, so the Natural History Museum is a huge draw for me. It’s also a nice time of year to stroll around Central Park, if you have time for that.

Sorry I haven’t been in NYC in a while now, so I don’t know what is going on there next week specifically.

Good place to see what exhibits are happening now. You can search by date.

My pics are Whitney and MOMA. The New Museum is good for a laugh, crazy modern art. Last time I went there was a sculpture made of icing, lol.

Not sure when you’ll be in the city, but Chase bank members or credit card holders get free admission to many museums (like the whitney) the first weekend of the month. http://museums.bankofamerica.com/

The Met is a must—it’s one of the top collections in world, rivaled only by the Louvre and the Smithsonian collection. They’ve been redoing the place so things are in pretty good shape and there’s always an interesting exhibit going on.

Some of the smaller museums are also worth checking out, but first make sure you’re interested in their current exhibits or collections (and that the collections are not out on loan!). A few examples: the New-York Historical Society (the country’s oldest cultural institution!); the Museum of the City of New York; El Museo Del Barrio; and the Jewish Museum (it currently has an exhibit on Houdini). These museums are also generally cheaper.

NYmag.com and Time Out New York should be able to help you figure out what’s going on when.
