The most unique feature in Denali is Denali itself, as in the Mountain. Known as Mt. Mckinley to most of us, Denali is the highest point in the US and the tallest mountain in the world from base(2000 feet) to peak(20320 feet). The other very unique thing about Denali Nat’l park is it’s exclusivity and natural untouched landscape. It is 4 million acres of nearly un-altered landscape. There is one road that goes into the park(about 80 miles) and that is the only way back out. Also, only a few private vehicles are let into the park every year. Most of the tourists come by way of a National Park tourbus, operated by Aramark. They pack about 50 people on an old school bus and take you 65 miles in, stopping at the happenstance of seeing moose, caribou, grizzly bears, wolves, dall sheep, and other amazing Alaskan wildlife. There are glacial valleys, high mountain peaks, snow that is there year-round, hot summer days with 90 degree weather and cold winter days reaching below -60 degrees. In the winter the park is patrolled by a team of working sled dogs. No motorized vehicles are allowed during the winter. During the summer, only that one road is drivin on. The tourist area of Denali is open from May – September and about 90 % of their business comes from the cruise ships. There are about 12 full-time residents of the village. Thats about all I can think of ofor now,. I hope it helps. If you need pictures, email me and I’ve got some wonderful high quality shots I can send. bradford.huntsman@gmail.com
