A question about this place:
Will I need a plug converter for my various electrical appliances in Costa Rica? I'm from the United States. I don't think I'm bringing any three-pronged plugs; just standard 2-prongs for my charger and my hair straightener. Thank you!

Nope- they are on the same electrical currency as us. Enjoy your trip!

Hi,

The plugs in Costa everywhere I went were the same as in the states; normal plugs, normal voltage. However, there were a few places where they didn’t have grounded outlets (2 prongs, not 3) so that could be a problem for plugging in a laptop for example. That problem can be solved with a simple adapter which gives you the 3rd prong so you can charge your laptop. A lot of places that don’t have grounded outlets will have these adapters on hand if you need one. Have fun! (Go to the Osa Peninsula, it’s the BEST!!!)

There is one difference! They mount the wall plug receptacles sideways. :-)
