It’s pretty cool. I’ve been twice… and I don’t know if I’ll ever go again. But, if you’ve never seen it before, it’s worth checking out. If you’ve got time, go to the Badlands and Devil’s Tower (both are a few hours away from Mt. Rushmore, but in opposite directions from it).

If you’re into hiking, there are a lot of trails in the Mt. Rushmore area, too.

I live in the area. I think Mt Rushmore is worth seeing at least once in your life. The Badlands is really cool, and so is Devils Tower. Hiking wise, I LOVE hiking Harney Peak, you can see so much from there.

If you do come here, there is a lot to do, and see! Crazy Horse, you can see just as much from the road, and a lot of people complain about the price going into it, because you don’t really get that close anyway. It also never really changes.

I know a lot of the area, as its where I call home! I can try and answer anything about it if you want!

Have fun

Thought it was pretty cool to see this at least once in my life. :) We drove through the Badlands on our trip out and that was pretty wild. Kinda like a planet in Star Wars. Didn’t do any other hiking, but there’s some pretty country around there.

It didn’t do anything for me. We went to Badlands (which was wonderful) and then chose between Devil’s Tower and Mount Rushmore, and I regret the choice. Seeing Rushmore in person was almost equivalent to seeing it in a picture, and although there were people climbing the area, our understanding from the signage was it was a technical climb, and we weren’t arriving with ropes and gear. I’d rather a good hike and a nice Rushmore postcard, if I had it to do over.
