A question about this place:
We are travelling to Tofino in a large motorhome with a tow car and are wondering about Highway 4 from Parksville. Where are the steep grades, etc., on this road?
Answers:
vingo
Parksville
For the most part it’s a smooth and painless drive, even for a motorhome Your first steep uphill grade will come just past Cathedral Grove on the way up ‘The Hump’ to Port Alberni, but it’s a good, modern two lane road.
It’s mostly easy from Port past Sproat Lake, then there are some sections near the Kennedy River that are quite steep, narrow and windy.
People do it all the time, however, just keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel. The payoff at the other end is well worth the drive.
