Enjoy the Weds and Sat Farmers Market in Kerrytown.
Eat at Zingerman’s in Kerrytown.
Go canoeing along the Huron River (start at Gallup or Argo Park, take it as far up as Dexter).
Look for events/shows at the Michigan Theatre, Hill Auditorium, or the Power Center.
Visit the Petting Zoo at Dominos Farms.
Go biking down Huron River Drive along the Huron River (clearly one of the top 5 roads in the state IMO).
If you have kids – or are a big kid – go to the Hands On Museum.
If you have a car: Visit Greenfield Village, Henry Ford Museum, the Ford F150 plant, the Hitsville Motown Museum, GM Headquarters at the Ren Cen, Cranbrook campus (Art and Science Museums) in Bloomfield Hills. Shop at Cabela’s in Dundee. Visit one of the three casinos in Downtown Detroit. Go grab a boat ride along Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River. Do a day trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

The Arboretum is a nice place for walking and just being outdoors enjoying the weather.

In addition to the other things mentioned above, these pop to my mind:
There are lots of fun places to eat: Seva’s on Liberty (vegetarian) Le Dog on Liberty (a hot-dog stand that serves Lobster Bisque on Fridays!) and on Main, Crazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger (I usually get the “Ultimate Cheese Sandwich” which is a half dozen kinds of cheese and a fried egg) on Division St. Main Street is clogged on both sides with higher priced “sit-down” style restaurants and I bet I’ve eaten at all of them.
There are actual vinyl record stores, if that’s your thing: Encore Records on Liberty, PJ’s Records and Wazoo Records on State Street.
And there are actual used book stores: Dawn Treader on Liberty, David’s Books on Williams, Motte and Bailey (I think that’s the name) on Fourth next to the People’s Food Co-op.
Check out the Saturday midnight movie at the State Theatre, or whatever art-house movie offering down the block at the Michigan Theatre. In fact, check out the Michigan Theatre anyway because it’s a fully restored “Movie Palace” from ye good old days.
There’s usually a good band at The Blind Pig but on Sundays the best place for live music is The Old Town, IMHO. If there is any show playing at the Ark on Main Street it’s a superior location to see folk/acoustic/alternative music.
If you play folk music, check out Herb David’s on the corner of Division and Liberty. If you play classical music, check out Shar music, just a little out of city center on Industrial.
There are a couple good brew pubs in town if you drink. Arbor Brewing Company, I think has the best beer but Grizzly Peak has better (and pricier) food. A couple other places brew their own too.
If you’re here on a Saturday morning, check out the three story garage sale that is run by the Kiwaniis at Ashley and Washington (right next to the Blind Pig) It’s fun from a cultural history / archeological perspective.
The University Art gallery doesn’t suck, especially since its big remodel. And the Natural History Museum is kind of a hoot too, even putting aside the collection and looking at the old stone and marble. There’s an archeology museum that I haven’t been inside in years but I though was interesting.

I give a HUGE thumbs up to all the things already listed (even though many are actually very close to, if not part of the campus) It is more than enough to fill a whole summer. But if you really are looking for more, here are some that are not at all part of campus:
- Ypsilanti Heritage Festival (in late August)
- Delhi Metropark for canoeing and anything nature or sport related.
- Metzger`s restaraunt, they are a family-owned German restaraunt which has been in Ann Arbor since forever. (they are out near the meijer`s on Zeeb Rd.)
- Exploring the “old west side” is a lot of fun if you are interested in seeing older houses. Aim for the streets between Pauline and Dexter Ave. I also highly reccommend Washtenaw Dairy (it is in the middle of the old west side) they have such fantastic ice cream that my school took field trips there every year!! If you have kids, there are a huge variaty of neighborhood parks to visit, basically anywhere in AA you will find several of them.
