A question about this place:
I'm planning to see Ireland on foot, with some bus rides when my feet tire. Are there enough break stops, like diners/hostels, near by the roads? Any suggestions on routes? Are the roads near the countryside safe to walk on for a backpacker? TIA!

Yes, there are tons of villages with pubs for a soup or toasted. Only thing I would warn you about regarding roads….country roads are narrow – one car width – and people enjoy going FAST! very fast. In most areas the roads are twisty and gentle rolling. You might have little notice of an approaching car, depending on where you are. Just be alert!

I would say the same. The roads are very narrow. I was in a small tour van and when we’d meet one of those large tour coaches, there was no slowing down and it was pretty terrifying. There’s really no shoulder to most of the roads. I don’t remember seeing any hitchers. The small towns are completely fine to walk around though.
