Rocky Mountain NP is gorgeous, but still pretty COLD this time of year, and there is pretty much NO oxygen up at that altitude. With that in mind, if you still want to go, then do. It is lovely. However, a trip to Glenwood Springs would be better in my opinion… worlds largest geothermically heated pool… oh how I miss it! If you are arriving in Denver, it’s about a 3 hour drive, give or take depending on the weather. Beautiful area, though. Do an online search and check it out. Glenwood Springs Colorado. If you go all the way to the Western Slope, you could go to The Colorado National Monument, then hop over to Utah for Moab and Arches National Park.
great. now I’m homesick.

I checked the Colorado Dept. of Transportation’s web site. They still list Trail Ridge Road as being closed for the season, which is normal for April. They usually try to get it open around mid to late May, weather permitting.

you will have a great time where ever you go, i loved durango and the surrounding mountains. if you can find a place called creed, there is a small bar there where customers tack a dollar bill on the wall. my dad stuck one up there in the 60’s and in 1999 when i went, it was still there!! lol it is just a fabulous place to visit where ever you go, enjoy!!! (and i am jealous)

I’m definitely going to check out Boulder with the Pearl St. Mall, Celestial Seasonings Factory Tour and the Boulder Dushambee Teahouse. Should be a great trip. Thanks!

If you do consider RMNP you can stay at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park — where the tv miniseries The Shining was filmed, and the inspiration for King’s book. Glenwood Spgs is a great place to visit, to be sure!

If you’ve never been to the National Park before, it’s a great place to start. If you’re the physical type, you can walk and enjoy the spectacular scenery. If you’re idle like me, enjoy it from the car. Driving through the park on very well maintained roads is excellent.
If you have time, a drive up Pike’s Peak is an amazing way to spend a morning or afternoon.

I had a great time driving up Pikes Peak. The view was great and the drive was fun. Turn off traction control for some added excitement.

I think I’m going to go to Pikes Peak and do the Bear Lake Rd. I found out that the Trail Ridge Rd (what I wanted to do) is closed until Memorial Day due to their eternal winter. Thanks for the recommendation.

well, I haven’t been around there in awhile but I would recommend you eat at this place called Casa Bouita, It was one of my favorite places when I was a kid. I don’t know how it is now, but it was great then, so I’d recommend it
