I would suggest,
Cuisine wise you try something called hot pot.
dont be shy of the street food big part of hong kong culture.
shopping for cheap clothes accesories and such go to mong kok, yau ma tei and shum shui po.
you can also get cheap electronics and gifts.
keep in mind counterfeit loui vuitton bags and channel or whatever we have knock offs in hong kong that look just like the real thing but not manufactured by the companies factories. but if youre bourgeois and care about your peers knowing you were authentic or knock offs then
for expensive name brand stuff you can go central, causeway bay, tsim sha tsui.
you have to see the view of hong kong from the peak. the place is actually called the peak.
umm is there anything particular ur after? or a experince your looking for?
hiking is big at the mountains lots of mountain treks.
I was born and raised in hong kong and i absoloutley love it! i speak cantonese so i fit in really well but ppl speak englih too!

1) If you want to go to the New Territories, go to the Chi Lin Nunery and the Temple of 10,000 Buddhas. The Temple of 10,000 Buddhas is incredible. There are actually 13,000 buddhas there. It’s in Sha Tin in the New Territories. If you go, there aren’t a lot of signs. We ended up in a cemetery. If there’s an escalator, it’s a cemetery.
2) Peking Garden in Alexendra House in Central. This is Chinese style eating and the dishes are designed to serve the whole table. The beggar’s chicken is awesome, but you have to order it 24 hours in advance. ...And smash it open with a golden mallet.
3) The Jumbo in Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island. It’s a giant boat restaurant. It’s gaudy, it’s touristy, it’s still awesome. Make reservations for The Top Deck.
4) The Tan Tian Buddha on Lantau Island. The world’s largest outdoor Buddha, it’s crazy. It’s gotten really built up now, which is kind of sad, but the cable cars above the water on the way there are pretty cool (at least better than that bus ride…)
5) And for those who love the bizarre, go to Modern Toilet Restaurant on Kowloon!! You’ve probably seen it on CNN or in Time.com. It’s the diner where you sit on toilets, drink out of urinals, and eat food that looks like a bowel movement. It’s in Mong Kok.

Eating is always a good option. Street food is great. Kowloon is fun. A little touristy, but a good bar scene with lots of crazies from all over the world.

I second the street food recommendation—lots of great stuff for super cheap. Try the curry fish balls! And the giant Buddha on Lantau island is awesome to see, plus it’s a nice ride over on the cable car.
One additional suggestion I’ve got is to hang out around the harbour around 8pm one night - there’s a massive light and sound show with the buildings on both sides participating. It’s something I didn’t know about until I got there - apparently this was routine to my friends who were born and raised in HK—but it’s definitely a cool experience, and you’ll be at the harbour at some point anyway.
Have fun!

You have to go to Victoria peak to see the view of Hong kong. Take the harbor bay cruise, its named the prettiest ferry ride in the world. Macau is a great day trip and beautiful island. It was originally owned by Portugal, so it’s very european. When I went to Macau they were building a wannabe las vegas, which was sad. Ladies market will be a great place to buy jewelry and bags. I still have jewelry from when I was in HK four years ago. Dimsum, noodles, dumplings, and all food in Hong Kong is yummy, and so much better tasting than anything I found in mainland China. Have so much fun!!!!

Don’t forget The Lights Harmony at Victorian Harbor every night at 08 pm. Be there earlier to get the best corner to enjoy the view. Bring your camera :):)

some great suggestions so far.
My fav thing to do there is go to Central, it’s a buzzing scene late night and they have this series escalators (out door ) that allows you to walk from Central to some of the outer edges of Hong Kong Island.
One of those things you have to do to believe it and its a great way to get a feel for Hong Kong.
Love that city I envy you.
oh and an Octopus card to get around (it’s like a smart trip card but you can use it on buses, trains , some cabs and trams ) It’ll be your friend and I’ll bet a great souvenir to take home.

Do you eat meat? Sung Dynasty village has a yummy lauriat.
There’s a hole-in-the wall restaurant called New Year. They have fantastic fried rice!
I love being able to find things in my size here. (I’m tiny)
There’s a mall by Marco Polo hotel that has a lot of high end, high fashion goodies, but there are a lot of places for bargain shopping as well.
