A question about this place:
I will be in Chennai October 23-27. What are some things I need to see or do? Are there any amazing dive spots? I'd like to get henna does as well.

Hmm more and more foreigners (read: white people haha) are visiting Chennai every year. I’m not sure why; there is not much to do there. There are a couple of shopping centers like City Centre and Spencers Plaza. Burma Bazaar is a sight also I guess.
I don’t think there are any dive spots (at least none that I know of). The beaches are not like the beaches that you are thinking of in America.

I like in Florida. I’m not interested in seeing or being around beaches, really. :D And I’m not really interested in shopping! haha I’m going on something called Semester at Sea and it takes you around the world. One of our stops is Chennai – which is probably the one I’m most looking forward to. I have no idea what to expect, or what to do while I’m there. I like to take pictures, and I like new experiences!

Well if you really intrested in Diving you’ll have to drive down to Pondicherry thats 3 hours drive from chennai, Nothin much in chennai lots of temples, churchs a fort. but lots to see culturally if you want. Try Couchsurfing.com :)
